Cambodia’s first expressway opens to traffic on a trial basis

International Business News  –  On July 19, Cambodian Minister of Public Works and Transport Sun Zhantuo led a delegation to inspect the construction progress of the Golden Port (Phnom Penh to Westport) expressway project and revealed that Cambodia’s first expressway will be open to traffic on a trial basis on October 1, and it will be opened free of charge people test drive for a month.

Golden Port Expressway project has overcome the severe test of the local epidemic, the project construction is progressing smoothly, the production progress is slightly ahead, and it has entered the final stage. After the project is completed, the journey from Phnom Penh to Sihanoukville Port will be shortened from 5 hours to less than 2 hours, which will greatly reduce logistics costs and improve local people’s livelihood. It will become an “acceleration road” to boost Cambodia’s economic development.

It should be mentioned that the Golden Port Expressway connects Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia, to Sihanoukville, the largest seaport, with a total length of 187.05km and a design speed of 100km/h. Invest-build-operate-transfer (B0T) integrated infrastructure project by CRBC. The construction project, with a total investment of 2.019 billion US dollars, has an agreed operation period of 50 years.
