International Business News – Vietnamese media reported on August 16 that the Plant Protection Bureau of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam revealed that the bureau is urgently coordinating with the General Administration of Customs of China and formulating a phytosanitary protocol for 8 kinds of fruits exported to China through regular trade channels, which will be By the end of the year, it will focus on improving the protocols on mango, watermelon and dragon fruit.
According to the Vietnam Plant Protection Bureau, there are currently 11 kinds of fruits that Vietnam exports to China through regular trade channels.
However, the two sides have only signed a protocol on phytosanitary requirements for three fruits, namely mangosteen, passion fruit and durian. So far, eight fruits including banana, mango, lychee, longan, watermelon, dragon fruit, jackfruit and rambutan have not yet completed the signing of the protocol.
The Vietnam Plant Protection Bureau stated that the signing of the protocol will promote more professional trade activities between the two countries, help stabilize output, and avoid malicious price reductions by the consignee. At the same time, if the goods do not meet the quality requirements specified in the contract, the consignee may refuse to accept the goods.
Regarding the progress of the signing, the Vietnam Plant Protection Agency said that it has solicited opinions from associations, enterprises and local governments on the draft protocol. In particular, the bureau will give priority to signing a protocol on phytosanitary requirements for mango, watermelon and dragon fruit with the General Administration of Customs of China.
The Vietnam Plant Protection Bureau also revealed that from now until the end of the year, the unit will work with the General Administration of Customs of China to complete the negotiation on the signing of the above-mentioned fruit protocol.
